Summary: The Workforce & Community Development Director is responsible for leading the Partnership's workforce development, talent attraction, and community engagement initiatives. This position develops and coordinates programs that strengthen the local workforce pipeline, enhance quality of life, and connect businesses with educational institutions, workforce organizations, and community partners. The Director serves as a catalyst for workforce collaboration by promoting career awareness, supporting leadership development, and creating opportunities that attract, develop, and retain talent in the Hastings area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To effectively manage and facilitate all workforce and community development activity of the Partnership, this person will be responsible for:
• Developing and implementing workforce development strategies that support the Partnership's mission and address the current and future workforce needs of the Hastings area.
• Building and maintaining strong partnerships with employers, educational institutions, workforce organizations, and community stakeholders to strengthen the local talent pipeline.
• Serving as the primary liaison for individuals seeking employment by connecting them with local employers, workforce resources, career opportunities, and training programs.
• Lead the Partnership's Elevate Internship Program by recruiting participating businesses, coordinating intern programming, and creating meaningful opportunities for interns to engage with the Hastings community throughout the summer.
• Providing leadership and support for the Hastings Young Professionals (HYP) program by coordinating events, increasing member engagement, and fostering professional development opportunities.
• Coordinating and administering the Leadership Hastings program, including participant recruitment, program development, class coordination, and alumni engagement.
• Assisting with other Partnership initiatives, special projects, and organizational priorities as assigned.
Qualifications: To successfully perform this position, the Workforce & Community Development Director must be a goal oriented, collaborative leader with the ability to build strong relationships and develop innovative workforce and community initiatives. This individual must work effectively with staff, businesses, educational institutions, community partners, and the public while advancing the mission of the Partnership. The ability to turn ideas into action while managing multiple priorities and budgetary limitations is essential. Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and computer skills are required, along with the ability to lead projects, coordinate programs, and engage diverse stakeholders. The position regularly requires lifting up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license, be willing to attend professional development opportunities, and be available for occasional evening, weekend, and overnight travel.
Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent experience is required.
