Are you detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in payroll and administrative support? We are seeking a Payroll Clerk & Administrative Assistant in Hastings, NE to support daily financial and operational functions. This is a stable, year-round position offering competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Location: Hastings, NE
Pay: $65,000 – $75,000 annually ($31.50 – $36.00 per hour, depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
or 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Position Overview

The Payroll Clerk & Administrative Assistant is responsible for processing payroll accurately and providing comprehensive administrative support to ensure efficient daily operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Payroll Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing payroll

  • Maintain accurate employee records including timesheets, leave balances, contracts, and deductions

  • Verify timesheets and attendance records; resolve discrepancies with supervisors

  • Respond to employee payroll-related questions

Administrative Support Responsibilities

  • Provide front office support: answer phones, greet visitors, and direct inquiries

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, memos, financial statements, and other documents

  • Manage and maintain administrator schedules

  • Assist with purchasing, invoice processing, and budget tracking

  • Support school events and meetings through scheduling and coordination

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred

  • Payroll, bookkeeping, or administrative experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of payroll practices, accounting principles, and office procedures

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and payroll/accounting software

  • Strong numerical accuracy and data entry skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must pass a background check
